Event Agenda:
8:00am-8:45am – Welcome and Keynote Address, Stephen Federle, KLH Engineers
Data Integration of the Design and Construction Value Stream
We have seen technology apply transformational change to many businesses and services, either catapulting them or bankrupting them. It is time to harness some of this change and leverage in the Design and Construction market. Integrating all of the information required to construct a building will be necessary.  Several applications and examples of integrating the design and construction value stream will be reviewed.

8:45am-9:15am – Break/ Check out our Virtual Exhibitors

9:15am-10:00am – Group 1 Breakout Sessions
Choice 1:

Cybersecurity and the Internet of Things (IoT) with Dave Hatter
Cyberattacks are increasing in frequency, sophistication and impact. Recent cybercrime statistics are disturbing:
  • The University of Maryland reported that an attack happens every 39 seconds on average, affecting one in three Americans every year
  • Ransomware costs have risen 184% from $12,762 to $36,295 in Q2 2019 according to a Coveware study
  • The FBI reported Business Email Compromise (BEC) is a $26 billion dollar enterprise over a 5 year period
  • 89% of breaches had a financial or espionage motive according to a recent Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report
  • SCORE reported that 43% of attacks are on Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs)

Unfortunately, EVERY organization and individual is a target, and as technology becomes increasingly important in our  personal and professional lives, the attack surface grows. With more users working remotely, often in less secure environments, it's never been more important to ensure that your organization understands the risks and is working to defend against them.  We'll review current trends in Cybersecurity, some special impacts to construction companies, and what you can do to make yourself, your family and your organization more secure.

Choice 2:

Business Intelligence and Predictive Analytics for Safety Teams and Roles with Amend Consulting
During this session, attendees will learn how data analytics can advance your company by using real data in every area of the business. We will take you step by step through this process and why it's important to understand how important analytics is to your company.

10:00am-10:30am – Break/ Check out our Virtual Exhibitors

10:30am-11:15am – Group 2 Breakout Sessions

Choose 1:
Emerging Construction Technologies and their Legal Issues with Taft Law and Porter Wright
This session provides an overview of the emerging technologies in the construction industry and their legal issues. Such technologies include machine learning, the use of drones on the construction site, the use of the Internet of Things (IoT) devices to add real time data to Building Information Modeling (BIM), and the use of self-executing contracts (Smart Contracts) with blockchain technology. These various examples will ultimately show that while Smart Contracts and the other technologies can be extremely useful and efficient, a traditional contract is still required in order to adequately protect the parties from new liabilities introduced by the technologies and to cover the terms that cannot be delineated to code.

Choice 2:
Modernizing Your Training - Trends, Facts and How To's with Tony DeAscentis
Tony will talk about how the current methods of safety training are lagging behind changes in employee learning styles. The approach and delivery are outdated and inadequate. They do not meet the expectations employers have around employees retaining information and avoiding injury. It is time to wake up, shake it up, and modernize your safety program. This session provides information about why training methods require modernizing and how to accomplish this task in your safety training.

11:15am-12:00pm – Closing Breakout Session
Improving Collaboration Through Preconstruction Innovations with Skanska
The session provides an overview of different technological advancements Skanska utilizes on a daily basis to foster collaboration during a project’s Preconstruction phase. These advancements are used to clearly communicate the design intent to the clients with emphasis on cost studies during the project planning stage. Various examples are showcased as a part of this session to help establish a balance between visualization and cost data analysis for various stages within the project life cycle.
Be sure to check out the following exhibitors in our Virtual Exhibit Hall!
- Building Point Ohio Valley
- Milwaukee Tool
- Skanska
