Cross Committee Highlight
6/22/17-Party In The Plan Room
Thursday, June 22, 2017 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM
Party In The Plan Room featured guest sponsor, Turner Construction. Members heard from the estimating team on upcoming projects and networked with fellow estimators!
There’s a good chance you’ve heard of a project Geoff Ryan has detailed, with a portfolio full of Cincinnati staples: Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden (Hippo Cove, Painted Dog Alley, Gorilla Exhibit Renovation and others), Blue Ash Summit Park and University of Cincinnati Mixed-Use High-Rise. All Schaefer team members are assigned a diverse collection of projects, but he’s pursued several niche markets and materials including excelling at projects with architectural elements because of his architectural background, zoo exhibits and tilt-up concrete construction for the industrial market. He’s intrigued by finding solutions for clients who are pushing the envelope.
Geoff graduated from University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering Technology and joined Schaefer as a modeler in 2012, but has since taken on duties in addition to modeling. Mentorship is a cornerstone of Schaefer’s philosophy; Geoff nurtures our next generation by managing our student workers. Involved from the start, often a part of the hiring process, he divides co-op and intern time to successfully complete necessary administrative work and challenge them with new detailing and designing tasks.
He also manages all logistics and maintenance for our Cincinnati office, from overseeing the installation of large brand pieces to office renovation projects; at an office of 50+ team members, there’s always something to be done. Geoff coordinates with others’ schedules to successfully complete the small tasks necessary to keep the office productive.
Outside of the office, when he’s not woodworking, golfing or spending time with his wife, Kellie, at his home in Amelia, he champions ACI-YP involvement in the PWC Prepare and Repair Affair, sits on ACI Membership Committee as a YP Liaison, organizes Schaefer’s involvement with Habitat for Humanity and is a St. Thomas More Church Festival Area Co-Chair.
