HOW IT ALL BEGAN……..
ACI’s Scholarship Program was established by a simple act of generosity and a desire to give back to the construction community.  In 2000, one of ACI’s instructors (who still wishes to remain anonymous after all this time) refused to accept payment for instructing an Educational Class and instead insisted that ACI give it to a student who wanted to go into the construction industry and needed financial assistance.  ACI’s Board Members, discussing how to best use this money, voted to honor ACI’s longest leading Executive Director of ACI, Howard Knauf, and so ACI’s Scholarship Program was born.  To date ACI has awarded almost $75,100 to deserving students and with the help of our members plans to increase the program to higher awards every year.

HOW IT CONTINUES……
In 2009, a long standing member company, cHc Fabricating Corporation, desired to honor the founder of their firm.  Harry Hoerr founded cHc Fabricating Corporation in 1961 with the intent to provide miscellaneous metals to the industry.  cHc Fabricating Corporation felt it only fitting to honor their founder by creating the Harry Hoerr-cHc Fabricating Corp. Scholarship under the ACI scholarship umbrella.  In 2009 at ACI’s Annual Meeting a commitment was made to provide a $5,000 scholarship each of the next five years in Harry Hoerr's honor.

THE CHALLENGE….
If you or your organization would like to accept cHc Fabricating Corporation’s challenge to provide a similar scholarship gift and donate to the ACI Scholarship Program, please contact Pat Popp at (513) 221-8020 or ppopp@aci-construction.org.
