Bruce Slattery is the President and Owner of Bruce A. Slattery Associates Consulting, LLC and serves as Co-Chair of the ACI Safety Committee.
Bruce began fighting to change the culture of safety during the 1980s, when safety was just being considered as a priority in the construction industry. The programs he initiated at Baker Concrete are now standard operating procedures for the company. In one instance, Bruce’s efforts resulted in changing the design of fall protection harnesses to add a place to store tools, making the harness easier and safer to use while providing one less challenge to workers. His harness design became one of the most popular and is still in use today.
As a safety consultant, Bruce has taught numerous safety classes for ACI’s members and has been described as a patient, sound and fair instructor. Whereas project superintendents usually don’t look forward to seeing the “safety police”, Bruce is often requested for inspections and advice.
Bruce is married to Karen, his wife and best friend. They have two married children and five grandchildren. In addition to his family, his other interests include collecting and restoring automobiles, especially corvettes.
With more than 30 years of safety experience, Bruce Slattery’s influence on the industry cannot be understated. His service to ACI members as Safety Committee Co-Chair is valued and appreciated!
