The Spirit of Construction’s Middle School Outreach Program is a grant-funded initiative managed by ACI. Established in 2009, the program’s mission is to engage middle school students, encourage them to stay in school, succeed in math, science, and language classes, and consider all options for a construction career.
Currently, the afterschool Construction Club programs explore site work, concrete, carpentry, electric wiring, pipefitting, caulking and insulation, drywall and painting.
During the school day, the program offers Carpentry Math, a classroom program using the practical side of math. Summer Construction Camp gives the students a chance to build a garden shed that becomes their legacy to the community.
