About Allied Construction Industries

Mission Statement

Expand opportunities for ACI Members to be stronger construction companies by: Advocacy, Education, Networking and Safety.

Allied Construction Industries (ACI) is a not-for-profit trade association comprised of approximately 580 member companies who employ more than 30,000 individuals throughout the Greater Cincinnati area. Established in 1929, ACI's membership includes general contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, developers, material suppliers and service providers to the commercial construction industry; members may be either union or open shop companies who are engaged in commercial, industrial and public construction. ACI serves as an umbrella to twelve partnership associations, including the Cincinnati Division of the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Ohio.

ACI’s History

In the mid 1920’s construction associations in the Tri-State area discussed the concept of creating an umbrella-type organization encompassing all management branches of the commercial construction mutual interest, while separate trade associations divisions located under the larger association would represent their members in areas of individual interests.

By January 1, 1929, three local associations, The Builders Exchange of Southwest Ohio, The Hamilton County Building Materials Credit Association, and The Associated General Contractors of America, had voted to merge and form a new organization.

On March 28, 1929, 450 representatives of the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky construction industry met in Cincinnati. A resolution was presented during the meeting to name this new organization Allied Construction Industries (ACI).
